there is a synthesis in an action and an action's quality.
1. optical- space trace.
2. isolated audible and isolated optical- sound cognition synthesized with space trace.
3. contextual audible and contextual optical, synthesized with the isolated action.
This action (1) alone is stupid. it means nothing in isolated existence. but as a quasi object, what gives this movement quality is (2) the man's relation to the sound and the relationship to the woman and (3) the man's and woman's relationship to the context of the metro.
What interests to me is trying to figure out what isolated (1) is, in a bigger context: Subway, poly temporality, flu bug, human connection. It is the synthesis of the optical action, the audible action, the human relationship to space and to each other which makes consequence and quality.
I want to deliver an architecture which values the consequence and quality of our actions as lovely traces in space. When we sweat, we leave temperature traces which are highly temporal but mean something in its context. What do they mean.
The synthesis of action actuates through the senses differently for each individual, some have no sight, some no hearing. Sharks can actually sense electronic vibrations from prey 2km away. It is the synthesis, no matter how this perception is synthesised, which I want to observe closer.
Laban's space traces, the 'Kinescope', and William Forsythe's extension of Laban's work makes me think that these body-space studies are not limited to dance choreography and the dancer. In everyday dynamics, one moves very consciously in a series of actions and in consequence traces space, traces temperatures. The man sneezes on the metro. Traces space, traces temperature. And the woman says 'Bless you.' She traces spaces, traces temperature. Then there exists the relationship between these two people. How can this relational space trace and temperature trace be notated or recorded for further exploration.
