stage proposal

the model of a stage i propose is a proof"ing" of concept, where i analysis and learn about the space-temperature-form geometries of movement in 3D material form, informed by my drawings, the IR videos and the footage.

the floor is an architectural component which allows gravity to counter-act the forces which allow the dancer to move. if only the floor could talk. the floor sacrifices any topography it could have to allow the dancer free reign- to make 'living' architecture in the form of space-temperature-forms.   in the videos and drawings, it is evident there are, on the floor, reflections of the visual and thermal geometry from the space-forms. the model will be an illustration of reciprocal forces- emerging from the floor- the opposing forces coming from the floor which would be seen if the floor could materially respond- to the dancers force exerting upon it. the dancer here becomes the host. and the floor feeds off the movement of the dancer, at a certain distance. para (food) site (distance) the result is responsive material-forms.

IR temperature plays a role because not only do the forces of the dancer exerted by contact on the floor by the hands, torso and feet affect the reactive forces of the floor, but the reflecting geometries of IR temperature on this floor-surface affect it as well.. 

the stage model is 29.25"x 24": which is 1"=1 ft in scale, the size of the dance floor of the dance film. this is the 'black box' volume, for the model. the model is of yellow birch, easy to bench, tight grain. the stage will be very sturdy so i can draw directly on it to map out my actions for its development. this 'living' responsive topography with be formed from thin steamed sheets of birch  wood, varying widths, depending on the 4 elements of 'effort' defined by laban.W.S.T.F. (weight, space, time and flow- of the dancer.) the stage jig will be of sufficient depth, from section one can see all the internal forces, all well as the forces emerging into the dancers kinescope. also, as we discussed about the floor plane changing orientation- there is a part in the phrase i have isolated from the dance (the phrase i am concentrating on) which re-orients the floor plane, and this will be explored in the model.
